A Community Meet? by Cowley_MOA (Page 1 of 2)

I was just pondering organising a hopefully large-ish meet for the community members. I would like to hear what people think before aranging it in stone. So has anyone got any ideas of when? and Where?
Cheers

I still love this marque and I will still be around, preferred selling to breaking, as a great runner and performer"

Have always thought Donnington Park would be a good venue for a meet, lots of space and the Wheatcroft Car Collection to view too. ;)

Oh, and not far for me to travel, either.

Wherever it is, if done under the name of the community and requested from the venue owners it may require PLI and Health and Safety documentation, this only applies to organised club type meets, if organised on an ad hoc basis, i.e. 10-30 cars arrive at a car park and proceed with meet as is with most of the local meets then there is no requirement for any official interference.
Some venues have their own PLI and H and S checks.
Example. :
Nene Park, official meet requires park authority permission PLI and H and S. Plus parking and other charges.
Nene Park, unofficial meet does not require park authority permission PLI and H and S, only normal parking charges.

Pubs with large parking areas are a favourite for unofficial meets, check with landlord first though, they are usually very happy to allow these as it brings cash into their tills. :)

We will organise PLI when we feel there is a big enough membership to warrant it. Then we can cover unofficial / official meets at venues where PLI is a requirement. Adrian Flux will be able to accommodate us on that score at very reasonable cost.

If you need any assistance, please ask as we've all been through the mill before as have many of the members. Best meets are the unofficial local meets organised by someone local, i.e. Yorks meet, Chasewater, etc.

JDC can have a meet in North Wales, I think there are at least 2 other North Walians that might attend if there are sheep on tap. :) :)

Looks like the pier could do with a lick of paint!

I remember when we last went, many years ago and it was lovely then, looks like a Council cost saving exercise currently, great shame :(
