82c thermostat! by Simon.h

Just seen 82c stamped on top of my thermostat, but the Rave cd says it starts to open at 88c. As my new car running at 88/89c this is why!

Just phoned Rimmer brothers and there is only 1 thermostat for the Kv6 and its 88c.

I thinking maybe because the car is factory fitted lpg MGR fitted a lower temp thermostat due the lpg, but Rimmers have no record of this!

Do you think i need to change it for the 88c or leave it?

Cheers

Unfortunately it's not something one can just nip out and have look at, being buried in the V of the engine. I'm sure someone will be along that has recently changed thermostat on a V6 or knows exactly what type is required. I doubt very much whether the 82º will have much bearing on the operating temperature of the engine, if it is 82 it just means it will open a little earlier. The V6 gets up to operating temperature very quickly anyway. If it were me I would not be worried by this.

Absolutely no reason for LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) to require a lower temperature, it's just pub talk and old wives' tales.
I don't like signatures, they take up too much screen space.

Why is it mines 82c (car runs at 88/89c) and every other one is 88c.
Also noticed i have 6 pencil coils on the spark plugs!

Sounds to me that it's just marked up incorrectly.
All had 6 COPs after 2002, I think was the change.
